San Pancho Escuela del Mundo to Host Night of Flamenco, Tapas, & Paella
Watch out, San Pancho, Spain is coming to pay a visit with San Pancho catering El Paellero and the parents creating delicious tapas and all are serving up a delicious menu on the Riviera Nayarit! Flamenco? Check! Sangria? Check! Paella? Check! Mark your calendar for a evening to remember in San Pancho, Mexico! On February 4, 2013 at 6:00pm, the San Pancho school Escuela del Mundo will be hosting it’s annual fundraiser, and this year the theme will be decidedly Spanish. The event will take place at the location of La Playa restaurant, on the San Pancho beach.
You’ll open your ears to the strumming of Spanish guitar music and you’ll open your eyes to the flowing skirts, tapping heels, and elegant flourish of Flamenco style dancing. Grupo Alegría, flamenco performers from Spain via Guadalajara, will be entertaining throughout the night with dancing on the San Pancho beach.
Your taste buds will be delighted as San Pancho catering service El Paellero brings the paella and parents are making a variety of tapas! Paella is an classic old world recipe not to be confused with the tortillas used to wrap tacos here in Mexico. Tortilla española is also known as “Spanish Omelette” and is typically made as a thick egg and potato dish fried in olive oil.
The culinary highlight of the San Pancho community event will be enormous pans of “Mar y Tierra” paella served by El Paellero catering. El Paellero catering service provides paella group meals to Sayulita, the Riviera Nayarit, and also covers San Pancho catering events.
El Paellero San Pancho catering plans to pull out “El Paelleononon,” (aka “One Darn Big Paella Pan”) to serve well over one hundred supporters of Escuela del Mundo. Fresh local catch-of-the-day fish, delectable San Blas prawns, and calamari will share space in the paella with chicken, chorizo, veggies and saffron infused rice. the students parents are making and bringing all kinds of delicious tapas for this special event. Everyone is in on the cooking, so come hungry!!
Tickets for the event are $300 pesos each, (additional donations gladly accepted!) and will raise money for Escuela del Mundo, San Pancho’s Montessori school. The admission includes tapas, paella dinner, the flamenco show, plus one sangria or other beverage. Escuela del Mundo educates Mexican and ex-pat students from age 3 to 12 (pre-K to grade 6) and draws from the San Francisco (San Pancho) area, including Sayulita to Lo de Marcos and beyond. Escuela del Mundo’s non-profit parent cooperative-run kindergarten and elementary school in San Pancho is committed to an interdisciplinary, holistic approach to learning using the Montessori Method. Instruction is in Spanish and includes alternative studies such as yoga, meditation, music, environmentalism and the arts.
If you are traveling to the Riviera Nayarit area for an extended stay with young kids in tow, it’s interesting to note that Escuela del Mundo will accept students for a minimum term of at least one month. Consider enrolling in Escuela del Mundo!
